Equal opportunities in local government and business

Every year, we assess the equal opportunities performance of municipalities and major businesses. Under the Equal Opportunities Act, municipalities are obliged to develop and implement measures to ensure equal opportunities regardless of gender, colour, nationality, citizenship, language, origin, social status, faith, beliefs or opinions, age, sexual orientation, disability, ethnicity, religion. Also, following the entry into force of the amendments to the Framework Law on the Protection of the Rights of Persons with Disabilities, employees with disabilities in state and municipal institutions, and in enterprises and companies managed by them, must make up at least 5% of the workforce.

Our aim is to take stock of the extent to which organisations are paying attention to equal opportunities at work, to compare their results with each other and, at the same time, to measure possible changes. We only look at what is published about equal opportunities within organisations, i.e. their efforts and measures as employers.
All municipalities and companies participating in the study have the opportunity to add to the documentation, revise it or start publishing more information.
During the evaluation, we advise the organisations concerned on possible adjustments to action plans or other documents, the definition of objectives and other steps to better ensure the implementation of equal opportunities.
