Traineeship programme for talented asylum seekers launches

The Diversity Charter, together with the Refugee Reception Centre, the Lithuanian Red Cross, Vilnius Archdiocesan Caritas and the Centre for Integration of Foreigners, is launching a traineeship programme for women and men receiving asylum.

The aim of the programme is to provide a 2-month traineeship in socially responsible companies and organisations, thus contributing to the better integration of asylum seekers into the labour market. During the traineeships, it is hoped that the persons will not only enhance their professional knowledge, but also meet professionals from different fields, expand their expertnetwork and feel stronger when looking for jobs in Lithuania that match their education and competences.

Representatives of the companies providing the traineeships will receive training on intercultural competences in January and February 2025 in Vilnius. The training will be delivered by lecturers from BBI Communication (Spain) and Skeiv Verden (Norway).

The traineeships will start in March, when the employers’ representatives will have received training material on creating an intercultural working environment and ensuring equal opportunities for all employees.

This is the second traineeship programme. The model was designed to build good practices and test whether this type of traineeship could contribute to increasing the employability of migrants in the country.

The results showed that 7 out of 9 participants felt they were stronger job candidates, expanded their professional network and acquired new skills. One person was offered to stay on with the company.

Companies are invited to register for this year’s programme by 12 December by filling in the form below.

You are welcome to apply for positions in any field, as long as you are fluent in Lithuanian.

We hope that the positions you offer will be for graduates with professional experience.

We will search for the candidates who best meet your expectations based on your profile. We will aim to offer at least two good candidates for each company. The final decision as to whether a candidate will be offered a position will be made by the organisation.

A total of 10 traineeship places will be offered.

Trainees will receive a monthly stipend of €600.

In case of more applicants, the motivation of the organisations will be taken into account and whether they would consider employing trainees after the traineeship.
