Public procurement as a tool for social change

How much power of change can public procurement have? Together with more than 100 procurement experts and contracting authorities in Rome, we discussed where public procurement is heading and how it can be used to make a difference. For example, what if suppliers committed to reducing the gender pay gap if they won a contract? Start hiring more people with disabilities?
The Public Procurement Service has already developed guidelines for such changes in Lithuania, and we will work with Open Contracting and the Lithuanian Diversity Charter to ensure that there are real examples.
