Employment programme for people with disabilities
For more than ten years, people with different disabilities have been working in Rimi stores and offices. At the start of 2018, there were 129 of them. “Our shoppers sometimes lack social sensitivity, they are afraid to interact with a deaf person, but I think I’m slowly changing that attitude for the better. This is very important not only for me, but also for the whole deaf community. I am also learning important lessons myself – I am learning how to control my emotions, how to behave tactfully with customers, even though I don’t always feel like it, when it comes to defending myself, expressing my opinion”, says Donata Vilkaitė, a girl who has been working as a cashier at “Rimi” for 6 years.
