Diversity and inclusion
Lithuanian society is diverse
Lithuania is home to a very diverse population. According to data from the Lithuanian Department of Statistics, in 2024, approximately 5% of Lithuania’s population consisted of people with disabilities and immigrants. Diversity in an organization implies that the composition of its employees reflects the diversity of society, including different age groups, genders, ethnicities, sexual orientations, religions, disabilities, and other aspects.
What is diversity and inclusion?
They are principles that enable people to fulfil their potential regardless of their individual differences. By consciously applying these principles, people’s talents are recognised and nurtured.

Diversity
The diversity of society’s members in terms of gender, age, citizenship, ethnicity, sexual orientation, gender identity, social status, views, etc. Organizations may or may not reflect the diversity of society.
Inclusion
A state in which people with various identities do not encounter prejudice or discrimination, instead feel accepted, welcome, and are full members of the team.
Membership of the Lithuanian Diversity Charter
Is not only a commitment to creating a more open organization, it also provides tangible benefits for your team, partners, and customers. In a diverse and inclusive organization, you will:
Gain a better understanding of your customer base and team
The varied experiences of team members contribute to a better understanding of different customer and community groups, enabling the identification of new opportunities and the development of products and services that meet diverse needs. European Commission studies show that inclusive organizations not only better identify market opportunities and strengthen relationships with customers and employees, they also gain a reputation for being more transparent and trustworthy. As a result, as many as 83% of such organizations say they have seen a positive impact on their business.
Attract talented people to your team
A diverse, inclusive, and open organizational culture attracts talented employees who are looking for meaningful work and opportunities for growth. Research shows that 76% of candidates consider diversity to be one of the most important factors when evaluating companies and job offers. This helps to attract and retain employees, especially younger generations who value an employer’s values-based approach.
Join a responsible community
By joining the Diversity Charter, you will become part of the European Diversity Charter platform, which brings together 27 charters. This represents more than 12,000 companies and organizations and over 15 million employees. Members of the Lithuanian Diversity Charter cooperate, share advice, and engage in discussions to ensure the best workplace for their colleagues.
Seeking change
Each member has the opportunity to assess how the principles of diversity and equal opportunities are implemented in their organization using a special Lithuanian Diversity Charter assessment tool. According to our data, Charter members improve their inclusion score by an average of 0.5 points (on a 10-point scale) each year, which shows consistent growth and real progress within the organization.
